With respect to my educational background, I have a degree in Accounting. Two years ago, I followed it up with an intensive workshop on annual tax planning. The learning I gained from the workshop has enabled me to become a better bookkeeper, a fact acknowledged by the Head of the Accounting Department at my current firm, who adjudged me as the ‘employee of the last quarter, 2012’.
Professionally, I have six years of experience in bookkeeping. Having worked at the current firm for four years, my responsibilities have included:
- Keeping a record of all financial transactions
- Managing accounts both payable and receivable
- Updating trial balances
- Reconciling bank statements
Working independently has made me proficient at multitasking between bookkeeping and financial responsibilities. I have also had to look into minor administration as well as customer service tasks. Working around tight time schedules has given me the necessary time management skills. In the last seven months, I have had the opportunity of training a junior bookkeeper besides taking care of my usual responsibilities. This, I believe, will be instrumental in making me efficient at handling a larger team going forward.
I am skilled at working with MYOB bookkeeping and other popular accounting software. I have also worked extensively with Microsoft Office and currently have a typing speed of 70 words per minute.
